Theft from Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

I would like to make you aware of the following vehicle crime that has taken place in your area over the last few weeks.

41/52567/26 Cornflower Way between 5th June at 10pm and 6th June at 8.48am-suspect/s rummaged through vehicle, nothing stolen

41/52577/26 Holme Road at 3.25am on the 6th June, suspect seen trying car door handles.

41/51804/26 Goldsmith Way between 4am-7am on the 4th June, all car windows smashed, nothing stolen.

41/45510/26 Parkhouse Court between 10am on the 15th May and 9.30am on the 17th May , windscreen smashed, messy search, nothing stolen

41/42269/26 Brookside between 2.09am-2.10am on the 7th June, suspect tried to gain access to a vehicle

If you have any information relating to these crimes please contact Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the relevant crime number

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY BELONGINGS IN YOUR VEHICLE WHEN UNATTENDED.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
